Exploring the Benefits and Dangers of the Metaverse

Smash Delta were engaged as partners for the launch of the Responsible Metaverse Alliance, a global initiative focussed on defining regulations that companies, builders and innovators on the metaverse must abide by as the technology grows. The metaverse is pegged as the next iteration of the internet. It is focussed on creating worlds and platforms that users are immersed in to interact with, as opposed to the current internet where interaction is 2-dimensional, and users are hidden behind a user interface.
In progressing the internet to parallel the real world, problems that exist in the real world start to seep in, yet the laws that protect people from this behaviour in reality are non-existent in the metaverse. Even in its infancy, the metaverse has been rife with harassment and assault, as well as frauds and scams, and this will only perpetuate, and worsen, if gone unchecked.
The Responsible Metaverse Alliance has been started to implement rigorous regulation for builders of the metaverse to protect its users. Smash Delta worked alongside the RMA for their launch by building an interactive, 3D, digital story to visually explore both the benefits and dangers of the metaverse, and how through some key initiatives, the metaverse can be a safe and inclusive space for all.
